I really can't remember the lat time I was so satisfied with a work like this one. Instead of all the mistakes, I'm pretty happy and, better of all, had toooooooooons of fun with it! Hope you guys like it! :-)

A month or two ago I posted some photos of my new work station, and among the pictures was a sketch of Edge from Rival Schools. I had time to color it a few days ago and I'm planning to color the other sketches I did of some character of this great game. Hope you like it!
And doing this Logo gave all the hell of a work.

I'm so happy to know that Design Inspiration.com has featured me there! :-)

Design Inspiration is a site that, like the name says, provides all kinds of inspiration to design and designers. They have an extense collection of topics and links related to logo design, illustration, concept art, photography, etc.

A few days ago, they made a little topic about Disney buying Marvel comics and featured two of my pieces among the 35 selected. :-)

The pieces featured there are Mickey and Donald. I'm re-uploading them here in case you wanna see them, ok?

Hey guys!!!

I just opened a gallery at CGHub. In fact, I had the account opened since may, but never uploaded anything and never did a profile. So now, I'm there and I really expect that this brings me a lot of good news and a SIGNIFICATIVE UPGRADE in my work. You wanna know why? When you're surrounded by insane artwork of guys like Sam Nielson, Gonçalo Pereira and Bobby Chiu (just to name a few), you HAVE TO get better. Or strongly consider throwing yourself from the window (in my case, from my apartment which is on the 12th floor). Seriously, looking at their works give me such a new breathe to run for another level in my work. these guys are easily among the best illustrators nowadays (I have a "special heart disease" for Sam Nielson's works) and I REALLY want to do things like them.

You should DEFINITELY join us at CGHub (and I'm NOT receiving any money to tell you this).

This guy rocks. And this outlook... Priceless.

If you don't know who this guy is, check the Comic Book Resources link with an interview with the Writer of one of the best new-released comic book titles, called "Lucha Libre". Also, check the blogs of Gobi Baptiste and Fabien Mense, they're the artists of the comic book and they're simply AMAZING. These guys are at least insane, to create these outlooks for a comic book. Super Funny, hehe.

Disney Buys Marvel

When I heard about it, I just didn't believe ( a friend that works at press told me right at the moment it blew on the net, a bit before any journal here), but now everybody is talking about it and I wanna go on the conversation. I love Marvel and I love Disney. I think EVERYBODY loves Disney- Is really difficult to hear someone telling that didn't grew up watching Disney Movies, assuming that Disney has almost 100 years. But when it comes to the point that Disney buys Marvel, everybody goes crazy- And I really don't know why. Because people is afraid of the next Spider Man hero crossover at comics or movies would be with Winnie the Pooh? Bullshit. Warner owns DC Comics and Superman doesn't meet bugs bunny at each month. I may be talking a lot of bullshit, but I think that the greatest eye of Disney is in the 4000 and growing up Marvel's character catalog- and how much money it can bring with movies, licensed products, etc. So, I think that the only interest of Disney is to keep marvel characters in the highlights and making money.
Also, I saw that Tim Townsend just uploaded a journal at his DeviantArt commenting he talked with Joe Quesada and everything will remain the same at Marvel. I have a very positive vision about it, thinking about all the creative minds that are now together and all the talent they have. Man, they'll have to be SO stupid to make bad quality things from now on. The Disney conglomerate just did a BIG step to put more money inside Uncle Scrooge's Big Safe, hehe.

Anyway, Hope you like my three renditions: Mick Fury, Ducktor Octopus and Magoofneto, hehe. :-)

Steampunk Megaman!!!!

Hey guys!!!

I recently joined a competition promoted by Game Artisans , the Comicon Challenge. The guideline of the comp was simple: make a redesign of any action-based character (super hero or super villain) in a different era. I chose megaman. First, coz the little blue guy is super cool!!! Second, I simply LOVE Capcom! Make my own vision of one of Capcom's characters is always a must. And third, There was lots of known characters like Batman, Spider Man, Superman, etc. But no Megaman. Also, I chose Steampunk era, because I think it fits Megaman perfectly... The perfect place for a Pinocchio-like Fighting Robot living his struggle against the super megalomaniac mad scientist that wants to rule the world. Resuming: super cool stuff!!!!

We worked over 5 weeks on the development of the character. I tried some different designs for him and reworked over some of them till get to the final one. Besides the final shot, we had to submit model sheet and workflow in order to make easier to everybody to follow the process. You can see my thread at Game Artisans here . I'm also posting the step by step process here, so if someone gets curious about how I painted it, it's already here. Feel free to ask questions or make comments! Thanks for looking. :-)

MY NEW POSTER SERIES!!!

Hey, it made really fast. I thought that my free time would come only in a few weeks, but it really showed his face fast. I had some spare time last night (I mean, in the time I was supposed to be sleeping) and started my new posters series, as promised.
This is the first piece for my new series and I'm sooo happy for it! I was thinking about this series since I was doing the first one, the "Wanted Posters". I'm still addicted to the idea of concentrate the work on the busts in order to help me study more deeply on faces, expressions, general shape feeling... I think this is a very good training that fits my objectives right now and the previous series helped me a lot in my development design studies.
My point on this series is to deconstruct well-based parameters and concepts, in order to see how far I can push my designs. Better explained: I want to pick an specific well known character (for this series, I chose the main theme "monsters") and push the design till the point it is a bit modificated, but still recognizable as that specific character. Like what i did with our little friend Frankie, here. In this one, I tried to add specific elements in order to change the character's nature from evil to funny; I wanted him to have a very goofy and childish feeling. This guy is a rookie and thinks he scares people, heh.
I had two versions; one with the hat and glasses, that is the final one, and one without them, just Frankie's face. I'm looking at him now, after a few days I did him, and I'm pondering about the shape of the hat... maybe if I have done in a square shape, It could be better... I'm talking about the point that the original Frankenstein has a general "Square" shape and maybe I had turned him a bit more difficult to recognize with a round hat, coz' I've altered his sillouette too much... Am I crazy or you agree with me? What do You think?

Hey guys!!!! Just wanted to make everybody know that now I have a decent place at home to work on! I'm uploading some photos of my new work station (sorry for the bad quality of the photos... hey, I said "now I have a decent work station", not "now I have a decent camera"! lol ) and some sketches I did on the day I changed my place. :-)

I'll scan some of the drawings that appear on the photos and make some tweaking in photoshop, so, stay tuned.

Children's Book!

Do you remember a children's book page I've posted some weeks ago??? So, now I'm posting more illustrations of the book. It's almost on the stores now, so I can reveal a bit more of it. The book will be released here in Brazil by the publishing company Edições Demócrito Rocha very soon ( I really expect it for this month) and I hope to come back soon with some photos of the book! :-D But for now, please enjoy the book pages. :-)

Just wanted to make sure you'd like to see my Wanted Poster Series sketches. I think it would be interesting to somebody if I post a bit f my pre-production process here. This is how I develop an idea, sketching lots of possibilities. Here you have some loosy sketches, some tight ones, some just in pencils, some already painted... This is the last of 6 for my series of Old West Posters.

And I present you the 6th! Featured here... The terrible Mamma Mia Bros!!!

The idea came when I was doing the 2nd one. I was trying to think about a double of brothers for the 2nd one, and after I sketched out the Good Goofy Brothers, which happened to be the featured guys on the 2nd, I was scanning the drawing and it popped in my head, "why not doing the Mario Bros as a double of bad guys???" The idea seemed sooooo good to me that I immediately sketched out 4 models of them, and chose this one you're seeing here. I just dropped it down till now. I wanted to close this series with them. I wanted to give them the best treatment I could do, and I think I gave a good breath on them. Tried to use good references from Mario universe, as well as a font based on Mario's fonts. Also, there was another thing that I wanted to make in this last poster, is to give it a kind of same feeling I gave to the first. I received good comments and critiques on the first one, on the DeviantArt Community, and it encouraged me to try to make a similar work, but with an eye on all the details I forgot on the first (please view the critiques and comments of the 1st poster here). Well... All these tips I received helped me to make this last poster. I really hope you enjoyed my Old West Poster Series, and please, come back soon to see my newest series of posters!!!!

I saw Pirates of Caribbean a few days ago and had this idea. I couldn't help to think about the same elements bad cowboys and bad pirates has in common, like I say on the poster: Hats, Weird beards and veeeery ugly faces. So, the idea of a different poster seemed quite good to me. It could be different, it could be fun, it could be original, it's just a personal work, so why not trying to make it? The best ideas come like this, when you're not thinking about them. I drew lots of cowboys for this series and was a really hard time to choose the ones I worked on the previous posters, but it seemed a really good idea to draw a funny pirate and make a poster where I could work on the words and on the idea more than on the image, in order to explain the joke. The first poster was something new, but the other three were, in part, a game of reproduction: they followed a style and didn't have a real innovation, just followed the recipe. My challenge, here, was to give this poster the same face the others had, but with a whole different element. I think I just played good on it, and it has the same general feeling of the others, instead of working with this different element. Well, that's just my opinion. :-D

Man, I really like this fella... he's just so much fun!
