Mr good Guy

Ok, this is the first piece of a series of tests and studies i'll be doing on the next few days. I went through the amazing artwork of Fabien Mense in the end of last year and since then, I was thinking about what could I bring from his art and style to my work. one of the first things I thought is that he has one thing I love to do and almost everytime i deny doing it: LINEWORK. Damn. i love doing pencil works. I like doing tight defined lines, but since I try to do overpaints a lot (for some reason I tend to think that lineart works doesn't have a place in this world haha), sometimes I forget that I like doing pencil works and simply going on a kind of cell shade style over them. So, after seeing mr. Mense works, I decided I'll start to explore a lot more this kind of work. I'm not telling by any means that I'll do only this; but i want to balance it with my overpaint tries, so, when I want a work with lineart I can have a good one. This may not look a lot different from my actual works and such, but believe me, it is. At least in my head. :-P

One thing I am sure about it right now is that I like cell shading with a bit of painterly style. I mean, a cell shade done with brush strokes and not that "cut" style done with area selection. I like to do brush strokes, so i want to do it with cell shading too. Right now I think I'm tending to overwork my cell shade pieces, since I don't practice it a lot; I need to be more familiar with it so I can drop off all the unnecessary information and leave only the essential brush strokes and effects. Anyways, this is the first try of this new work, and I hope that I can develop it even more in the following days. I really hope you like it!!! =D
